In celebration of the 400th Festino of Santa Rosalia, renowned Palermo artist Dario Denso Andriolo will unveil his new work, “Santa Rosalia 2024,” in an exhibition event titled ” Fidelis”

Dario Denso Andriolo, celebrated for his innovative 3D scanning and digital reworking of human models, has created a new version of Santa Rosalia inspired by the famous blogger Valeria Paci. Known for her social media page “Walking in Palermo,” Valeria captivates millions of users by narrating Palermo’s charm. Her figure was digitally scanned and reworked by Andriolo to bring to life a contemporary representation of the Patron Saint of Palermo.

Andriolo’s new pictorial/sculptural work will be presented not only physically but also within a video installation, making the experience even more immersive and engaging for the audience. This innovative combination allows for the exploration of the dualism between body and spirit in a harmonious and peaceful dialogue.

Using elements of traditional sculpture, such as marble textures, draperies, and iconographic attributes, the artist successfully reinterprets religious iconography through a digital lens. His works depart from the traditional colors of religious representations, daring to use bold and unusual tones reminiscent of pop art, while maintaining a deep respect for tradition.

The “In Saecula Saeculorum” series, started in 2017, includes not only Santa Rosalia but also the four saints Ninfa, Oliva, Cristina, and Agata, as well as the Genius of Palermo, inspired by the scanning of Davide Lorè, frontman of Shakalab. The works in this series are appreciated by collectors for their vibrant colors and the contemporary manner in which they approach sacred icons unconventionally.

For this special occasion, the artist, in collaboration with PAD, will release 40 signed and authenticated artist’s copies, available exclusively during the event.
